Houston Accommodations

Houston is the fourth largest city in the U.S. and as such has a lot of accommodations. They also have a large convention city and with the Medical Center and the Oil Industry here there are a lot of places to stay.

Here is a look at places to stay.

If you don’t want to stay in a hostel or a hotel, you can choose to rest your head in an AirBnb property in the city.

Houston as large as it is, is just not a hostel town. For the longest time, there was only one hostel here. A new one opened up in August 2018.

The city of Houston has a lot of hotels. If you’re visiting for the first time, you may have no idea where to stay as the city is so vast. My recommendation is to stay as close as possible to where your event is located, so you don’t have too much commuting to do. You’ll want to check the local transportation first before you book.

I suggest using Google Maps or some other mapping software to figure it out. Also, Houston has a lot of traffic and during rush hours (7:30a to 9:30a and 4:00p to 7:30p weekdays) there is a lot of congestion downtown, midtown, US59/I-69, US288, I-45, Loop 610 and Beltway 8. The city is gridlocked.

So if you’re thinking of shared ride services such as Lyft and Uber bear the traffic in mind when you do your planning.

There are hotels at the two airports, but bear in mind that the airports are about 21 miles north and south outside the city.

Here are the “Central” areas; Downtown, Medical Center. Museum District and Midtown (Galleria). Just remember to look at your hotel location and where you need to be before booking. Houston is really wide and large.

Airport Hotels

There are a number of hotels at both airports just in case you have to stay close to the airports.
